Where the Waters Remember: Dakota Life Along the St. Croix

Please join us for a special event with Dr. Ed Fleming, Curator of Anthropology at the Science Museum of Minnesota and Cheyanne St. John, Director of Dakota Tribal Historic Preservation.

Ed Fleming will provide an update on the Science Museum of Minnesota’s research into the history and archaeology of the Lower Saint Croix before European colonization.
Cheyanne St. John will deepen our understanding of the indigenous history of the river and share the cultural significance of archaeological evidence and artifacts. Also, Science Museum staff will show artifacts found on sites along the banks of the river, such as the stone scraper shown in the photo.

Free! All are welcome

A Community Potluck will be held prior to the presentation. The potluck will begin at 5:30 P.M. at Burris Park in Marine on St. Croix. Please bring a “Feast Bundle”, including a dish to share, blankets to sit on, plates and utensils.
