Taking a Timeout
Due to COVID-19, our programs for kids and families have been paused. When it’s safe to do so, we will once again offer the wonderful programs described on this page. Although the library is not open because of COVID-19, our books and materials are available via curbside book pickup. Learn more at Book Checkout Available.
Please check back for updates or join our email list to receive updates on our programming and changes to our services.
Our regular summer programming includes a host of great events and activities to engage and delight kids of all ages.
READING INCENTIVE Program
Summer is a great time to read for fun! To encourage young readers and listeners, the Marine Community Library offers a reading incentive program for all kids up through high school age. Kids become eligible for weekly prize drawings by filling out a brief form for each book they read. Last year over 25 businesses generously donated gift cards to the library for prizes.
During the summer a weekly storytime is held at the Marine Gazebo. Volunteer readers from our community engage preschoolers and young children with a variety of stories and activities.
SCIENCE & ART CAMP
Since 2017 the library has offered this very popular program for children entering 1st through 6th grade. The camp is a unique opportunity to learn from local science and art professionals. The Science and Art Camp runs for two weeks in late June, from 9:00 am to noon Monday through Friday. The first week is for students entering 1st through 3rd grade and the second week for students entering 4th through 6th grade. Registration is required, with a limit of fifteen students each week.
River Readers Summer Kick-off Celebration is held at the Marine Gazebo in early June to preview all the summer events. Families will enjoy many activities, entertainment, food and prizes. Free! Fun for all ages.
Blanket Bingo Gather with your friends, family and a blanket to play Bingo. Lots of prizes for all ages.
The Marine Community Library has a wide assortment of books and materials for kids of all ages, from board books for babies to fiction and nonfiction for teens. school year programs
Storytime is held in the library once a month during the school year. We welcome youngsters of all ages to listen to stories, sing songs and do activities.
Everyone is welcome to Game Night, held once a month during the school year in the Village Hall. Join your neighbors and meet new friends for a night of games and pizza. Bring your favorite game, and, if you wish, teach others. The library will have games as well.
