2022 Summer Programs

We are thrilled to be able to offer children’s programs this summer! We have a variety of great events and activities to engage and delight kids of all ages.

Kick-off Celebration

Saturday, June 11, 2022 at 10:00 am
Don’t miss this fun event which will highlight the summer programs with entertainment, activities, prizes and more!

Free!
Time and Location: 10:00 am to noon at the Marine Gazebo
Safety protocols will be followed.

READING INCENTIVE Program

2022 Dates: June 11 to August 27
Read a book, submit a short book report, and be eligible for a weekly prize drawing!

We encourage all children, preschool through high school, to join us for this popular program. Forms and prizes will be available at the library. There will be a free book for every reader!

STORYTIME

2022 Dates: July 7, 14, 21, 28 and August 4, 11 (six Thursdays)
Join us for special stories and crafts at the Marine Gazebo.

Free! For preschoolers through early elementary children.
Time and Location: 10:00 to 11:00 am at the Marine Gazebo

SCIENCE & ART CAMP

This is the 6th year the Library is sponsoring this special camp for school age children. Each day, science and art presenters will lead the children in activities. Note that we have a new location – this year the Camp will be held at the Marine Village School.

2022 Dates:
Session 1
: June 13 to 17 for children going into grades 1 to 3.
Session 2: June 20 to 24 for children going into grades 4 to 6.

Time: 9:00 am to noon each day
Location: Marine Village School, 550 Pine St, Marine on St Croix
Cost: $50
Registration: required, held on March 5 – 6.
Limit of 16 children per session. The 2022 sessions are both full.

Blanket Bingo

Gather with your friends, family and a blanket to play Bingo. Lots of prizes (and fun!) for all ages! Free!

2022 Dates: July 27 and August 17 (both Wednesdays)
Time and Location: 6:00 p.m. at the Marine Gazebo

STORYTIME

From April 7 through May 26, 2022:
Join us for special stories on Thursday mornings from 10:30 to 11:00 a.m. We meet upstairs in the Marine Village Hall where there is plenty of room to spread out.
Free! All ages welcome.

SCHOOL AGE PROGRAMS

Saturday afternoons at the library can be exciting! Why not learn new things and meet other kids! Come and check it out! One Saturday each month there will be opportunities to do art and science projects, play games and have fun!

Dates: March 12, April 2, and May 7 (descriptions below)
Time:
 1:00 to 3:00 pm
Location: Marine Village Hall at 121 Judd Street, or outside.
Ages: 5 to 11, Free! (registration is required)

Saturday, March 12 from 1:00 to 3:00
Join us in making collage cards for family and friends using a variety of papers. Feel free to bring photos, images from magazines, newspapers or wrapping paper. Anything goes!
Basic pre-cut cards and envelopes will be supplied.

Saturday, April 2 from 1:00 to 3:00
Science Saturday for Curious Kids! Join us for an afternoon of fun and exciting science explorations designed to amaze you and help you learn about how the world around you works. Can you make raisins dance? Can you make a rainbow in a cup? Can you make things move without even touching them? Hint: Yes, you can!

Join us for an afternoon playing games, making structures with cardboard, and other surprises!

FAMILY FUN NIGHT

Join us each month for a Friday evening of fun, games and pizza. It is a great opportunity to meet other families in the community.

Bring your favorite game, and if you wish, teach others. The library will have games and craft materials for all ages.

Dates: March 25, Bingo Night on April 22, and May 20
Time: 5:30 to 7:00 pm
Location: Marine Village Hall, 121 Judd Street
$5.00 suggested donation for the pizza

KIDS COLLECTION

The Marine Community Library has a wide assortment of books and materials for kids of all ages, from board books for babies to fiction and nonfiction for teens. We continually add new releases and other materials to our collection, and we also have childhood classics like Dr. Seuss and Berenstain Bears. Lists of recent additions to our collection are available on the RECENT ACQUISITIONS page. Our collection includes:

  • board books, picture books, easy readers
  • juvenile fiction and nonfiction
  • teen fiction and nonfiction
  • audio books, DVDs
