During the school year, we offer Storytimes and other programs for kids and families. To receive notifications about upcoming programs, you can join our email list.
Join us for special stories every Thursday at 10:30 a.m. We meet in the Library. Free, with no registration needed. Open to all ages.
Fall 2022 Storytimes begin on Thursday, October 6 and continue weekly.
SCHOOL AGE PROGRAMS
Saturday afternoons at the library can be exciting! Why not learn new things and meet other kids! Come and check it out! There will be opportunities to do art and science projects, play games and have fun!
Saturday Fun – Water Science
What is all around you all of the time that was around in the time of dinosaurs? What is so soft it can run right through your hands? What can be so hard you can stand on it? What do you need every day? Yes, it is that amazing substance known as H20/water!
Come and experiment with ice balls, salt, sugar, food coloring, and something called surface tension. It’ll be wet, it’ll get messy, it’ll be fun!
Date and Time: Saturday, October 15, from 1:00 to 3:00 pm
Location: Marine Village Hall (upstairs) at 121 Judd Street
Ages: Best for ages 5 to 11

FAMILY FUN NIGHT
Join us for an evening of fun, games and pizza! This is a great opportunity to meet other families in the community.
Activites include BINGO, Minute to Win It, book charades, and crafts. If you wish, bring your favorite game.
These are free events, but we suggest a donation of $5/family for pizza. We strongly suggest that families RSVP so we can order enough pizza.
2022 Dates: September 23, November 18, December 16 (all are Fridays)
Time: 5:30 to 7:30 pm
Location: Marine Village Hall, 121 Judd Street

The Marine Community Library has a wide assortment of books and materials for kids of all ages, from board books for babies to fiction and nonfiction for teens. We continually add new releases and other materials to our collection, and we also have childhood classics like Dr. Seuss and Berenstain Bears. Lists of recent additions to our collection are available on the RECENT ACQUISITIONS page. Our collection includes:
- board books, picture books, easy readers
- juvenile fiction and nonfiction
- teen fiction and nonfiction
- audio books, DVDs

2022 Summer Programs
We had a wonderful summer! We offered a variety of great events and activities to engage and delight kids of all ages. Thanks so much to all the participants and volunteers! The 2022 programs will be listed here until we’re ready to share our programs for the summer of 2023.

READING INCENTIVE Program
2022 Dates: June 11 to August 27
Read a book, submit a short book report, and be eligible for a weekly prize drawing!
We encourage all children, ages 0 to 18, to join us for this popular program. Forms are available at the Library, or can be downloaded here. Drop off completed forms (up to three per week) at the Library. Forms can be put through the book drop slot inside the Village Hall when the library is closed.
A drawing will be held each Saturday for prizes in two age categories – younger and older. Prizes include gift certificates to many local merchants. Winners will receive a phone call, and can pick up their prize at the library.

July 7: Debra Smith, Scandia resident, former librarian and author, will read stories about animals reading books.
July 14: Monette MacDonald, Marine resident and actress, will involve kids in movement and improvisational exercises She’ll read about celebrating and accepting differences.
July 21: Jill Kaufenberg, Marine resident and author of The Mitten Thief, will read stories and lead an art project.
July 28: Daniel Kilkelley, a Somerset librarian, will read, sing, and get into all sorts of shenanigans!
August 4: MacPhail Music Center returns with their popular Sing, Plan & Learn program about colors and feelings. (Thanks to the Legacy Program of Washington County!)
August 11: Rap, Rock & Read with Miss Nina. Miss Nina is an award-winning children’s music artist. Sing songs based on books, move and dance as she sings and plays the guitar. All ages will love her!
Gather with your friends, family and a blanket to play Bingo. Lots of prizes (and fun!) for all ages! Free!
2022 Dates: July 27 and August 24 (both Wednesdays)
Time and Location: 6:00 p.m. at the Marine Gazebo
SCIENCE & ART CAMP
This is the 6th year the Library is sponsoring this special camp for school age children. Each day, science and art presenters will lead the children in activities. Note that we have a new location – this year the Camp will be held at the Marine Village School.
Session 1: June 13 to 17 for children going into grades 1 to 3.
Session 2: June 20 to 24 for children going into grades 4 to 6.
Time: 9:00 am to noon each day
Location: Marine Village School, 550 Pine St, Marine on St Croix
Registration: required, held on March 5 – 6.
Limit of 16 children per session.
