Art is no longer exclusively sequestered in institutional displays or objectified as historic markers. Art in the truly common, public realm is playing an increasingly important role in society — whether in city parks, streetscapes, new commercial developments or even on the grounds of prisons. Public art is being integrated as part of our everyday experiences and impacting our quality of life. Why is this important? What role should it play in the future? How do you even define successful public art?
Dennis Reynolds‘ unique background has allowed him to weave fine art, urban design, architecture and landscape architecture into holistic placemaking with intergrated public art. The result is memorable, inspiring and sustainable places that impact the quality of life for diverse populations and communities. Dennis will share some of his work and explain his process in creating public art while also facilitating a discussion that explores the importance and opportunity to integrate placemaking and public space.
Dennis Reynolds is a former Marine resident and has done amazing work all over the world.
