Arrow Broken Poetry Collective – Teresa Peterson

Featuring award-winning author Teresa Peterson

Teresa Peterson, Utuhu Cistinna Win, is Sisseton Wahpeton Dakota and citizen of the Upper Sioux Community and the 2024 Winner of the Sigurd Olson Nature Writing Award for her book “Perennial Ceremony: Lessons and Gifts from a Dakota Garden.”

Peterson earned her doctorate from the University of Minnesota – Duluth and also is the author of “Grasshopper Girl” and co-author of “Voices from Pejuhutazizi: Dakota Stories and Storytellers” with her uncle “Super” LaBatte. Her passion is digging in her garden that overlooks the Mni Sota River valley and feeding friends and family.

After Peterson’s reading, the public are invited to participate in an Open Mic to share poetry, short works, play acoustic music and more. Participants are allotted three minutes so everyone has a chance to perform in front of a full crowd.

Date and Time: Thursday, May 28 from 7:00 to 10:00 P.M. Open Mic begins at 8:15 P.M.
Location: Marine Village Hall, 121 Judd Street, Marine on St. Croix
Free. All are welcome.

Arrow Broken Poetry Collective is poetry cohorts, contemplative writing groups, monthly poetry readings, and outreach and education. Founded in 2024. Based in Marine on St. Croix, Minnesota.
